SYRACUSE, NY – Syracuse has added Bucknell to its 2011-12 non-conference schedule with a December 20 date at the Carrier Dome. The Orange has an 8-1 series advantage although the Bison won the last meeting, 74-69, in 2005-06.
Head coach Dave Paulsen led Bucknell to a 25-9 overall record and 13-1 Patriot League mark last winter. The Bison captured the Patriot League Tournament title with wins against Army, Lehigh, and Lafayette. The 72-57 victory over Lafayette was enough to earn the Bison a spot in the NCAA tournament, its fifth tournament berth in program history. The 14th-seeded Bison fell in the first round of the NCAA tournament to eventual NCAA champion Connecticut.
Paulsen was the head coach at St. Lawrence (1994-97), LeMoyne (1997-2000) and Williams before his hiring at Bucknell in 2008. He guided Williams to the 2003 NCAA Division III Championship.
New season tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, August 24, at 10:00 a.m. Single-game sales will start on Wednesday, October 12, at 10:00 a.m. Additional information on tickets can be obtained by logging on to SUAtheltics.com or by calling 888-DOME-TIX.
