"We committed ourselves to a goal of a winning season and a bowl game, and we achieved it," said Coach Marrone. "Now here we go again. Our goals are going to be higher, so therefore we have to work harder. We understand now that if we work, we have the ability to achieve those goals."
The 2011 season commenced at BIG EAST Media Day on Tuesday in Newport, R.I. Marrone and seniors Antwon Bailey, Chandler Jones, Mikhail Marinovich and Ryan Nassib answered questions from members of the national and local media about expectations for the upcoming season.

Syracuse returns 14 starters from last season's squad including eight of the offensive side of the ball as well as 2010 All-American kicker Ross Krautman.
The Orange kick off the 2011 season with the team's home opener on Labor Day weekend, September 1 against Wake Forest at 8 p.m. from the Carrier Dome. It will be the first time since 1989 that SU will play a home game on a Thursday as well as the first home-opener on a Thursday night in school history. Season tickets are still available, starting at $99, and can be purchased online and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (888-DOME-TIX).
