Softball Opens Fall Action in Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The back-to-back BIG EAST Tournament Champion Syracuse University softball team travels to Broom County College this weekend to open its 2011 fall schedule.
The Orange will take the field against Cornell at 11 a.m., on Saturday and Le Moyne at 3 p.m. Sunday will pair SU against Fordham at 9 a.m., and Binghamton at 11 a.m.
Coming off its best season in program history and notching its first ever NCAA Tournament victory, the Orange reloads with its core group of returners, and welcomes five new players to the 2011-12 squad.
Syracuse's fall schedule includes games next weekend in Ithaca, N.Y., against Binghamton and Cornell, along with home contests against Binghamton and Le Moyne at the end of the month. The September 30th game against Binghamton is a breast cancer awareness campaign; “Save 2nd Base.”
