The Syracuse cross country team returns to the Lang Cross Country Course this Saturday for the Colgate Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y., with races starting at 11:30 a.m. The Orange will be running its varsity squad for the first time this season, and will focus on gauging their fitness level heading into the thick of the season.
The Orange is excited to see how far their summer training has brought them, and what areas they will need to improve on. The team's very promising freshman classes on the men's and women's side are looking to try to make their immediate impact on the team, while SU's veteran runners are expected to introduce the freshman classes to NCAA Division I cross country.
Following the Colgate Invitational on Saturday, SU cross country's next race will be the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. This year's Paul Short Invitational on September 30 should be an important meet as the Orange will face multiple teams ranked in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Top 30.
SU in the Polls:
The Syracuse men remained ranked 14th in the USTFCCCA national poll and 2nd in the regional poll. The women, although remaining ranked 15th in the national poll, have moved up in the USTFCCCA regional poll to take a 2nd place ranking behind Providence.
