
’Cuse Opens with Team Wins at Harry Lang

The Syracuse University cross country teams opened the 2026 season Saturday at the Harry Lang Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Colgate at the Lang Cross Country Course.
Both Orange squads claimed team titles, with the men winning the six-kilometer race and the women taking the five-kilometer race.
On the women's side, sophomore Mackenzie Cook led the way for Syracuse, winning the individual 5K with a time of 18:6.2. Â Sophomore Alycia Hart followed closely behind, finishing second in 18:14.1.
Freshman Natalie Fouts made her Syracuse debut with a fourth-place finish in 18:17.9. Â Sophomore Josie Baker finished fifth in 18:18.6, while sophomore Brielle McClarnon rounded out the Orange's scoring five in seventh place with a time of 18:33.7.
Sophomore Sarah Lawson also competed for Syracuse, placing ninth overall in 19:1.7.
The Orange placed five runners in the top seven to score 19 points and finish ahead of Colgate (42) and Le Moyne (74).
On the men's side, freshman Charles Guerrera led the way in his Syracuse debut, winning the individual 6K with a time of 18 minutes 44.9 seconds. Â Sophomore Asher Danielson followed closely behind, finishing second in 18:48.5.
Freshman Andrew Walton placed third in 19:13.7, while freshman Clay Stevens finished fourth in 19:16.7. Freshman Xavier Richardson rounded out Syracuse's scoring five with a fifth-place finish in 19:18.11.
The Orange placed all five scoring runners in the top five to earn a perfect team score of 15 points, finishing ahead of Colgate's 43 points and Le Moyne's 70.
Syracuse returns to action Sept. 11 at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational hosted by Penn State.
