SYRACUSE, N.Y. – #C.J. Fair#'s first half dunk during Monday night's game against Pittsburgh was featured as the number one play on ESPN's Top 10.
With 5:29 remaining in the opening frame, the sophomore forward from Baltimore, Md., set a pick for senior guard Scoop Jardine at the top of the three point arc and rolled to the basket. Fair received the ball from Jardine at the free throw line, took one dribble to his right, and dunked the ball with his left hand over Pittsburgh forward Talib Zanna, while drawing the foul. Fair converted the three point play to electrify the Carrier Dome crowd of 24,826. Fair's and-one gave SU a 26-17 advantage.
“I don't remember who passed me the ball. I remember I circled around from the high post and I took one dribble and I just rose on the guy. It was good play because throughout the whole season, Scoop and the other guys have been giving me a hard time, saying I lost my leaping ability. So it was a good play to show them I still got it,” Fair said about the dunk.
Fair finished the game with seven points, five rebounds and three blocks in a 71-63 victory against Pittsburgh. SU's next game will be on the road this Saturday, January 21 at Notre Dame (6:00 p.m., ESPN).
