The Syracuse football program has two new members. Quarterback Ashton Broyld and linebacker Myles Davis begin their SU careers after attending and playing football at Milford Academy.
Broyld, a native of Henrietta, N.Y., threw for 427 yards on 31-of-56 passing and six touchdowns for Milford Academy last season. Playing for head coach Bill Chaplick, Broyld also ran for 259 yards on 31 attempts and six touchdowns in 2011. Before attending Milford Academy, Broyld was a 2010 New York State Class AA Player of the Year after leading Rush-Henrietta High School to the 2010 Class AA State Championship and a 13-0 record. He earned all-league, all-county and all-state honors after passing for 1,961 yards and 24 touchdowns and rushing for 1,540 yards and 24 touchdowns.
A native of Verona, Pa., Davis had 10.5 tackles, including 6.5 for a loss of yards, and was rated No. 14 in the Rivals.com Prep School Top 50 after his 2010 season at Milford Academy. A graduate of Penn Hills High School, Davis was selected for the 2010 East-West All-Star Game, and posted 91 tackles, including three sacks and one interception during his senior season in 2009.
