SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the fifth-consecutive week, the Orange men's basketball team (17-0, 4-0) is the nation's top-ranked team in both the AP Top 25 and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
The current run as number one is the second longest streak in program history, and is one week shy of tying the 1989-90 squad that held the top ranking for six straight weeks. SU also finds itself in the national rankings for the 54th consecutive week, dating back to week 17 of the 2008-09 season when Syracuse jumped back into the polls at No. 25.
The Orange is one of three remaining unbeaten teams in the country, along with 4/4 Baylor and 15/14 Murray State.
Syracuse is on the road this Wednesday night at Villanova (7:00 p.m., ESPN2), before hosting Providence in the Carrier Dome next Saturday (6:00 p.m., BIG EAST Network/TWCS). Fans can buy tickets online, at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B) or by calling 1-888-DOMETIX.
