For the second time this season, the Syracuse football team will host a BIG EAST opponent in a Friday night showdown at the Carrier Dome. This Friday, Oct. 19th, the Orange hosts UConn (3-4, 0-2 BIG EAST) at 8 p.m. (ESPN). SU looks to repeat what happened in its first Friday night game of the season, when it defeated Pittsburgh, 14-13, on Oct. 5th.
It is also Fan Appreciation Day at the Carrier Dome on Friday. All Syracuse University students will receive free admission to the game, courtesy of Pepsi. At halftime of the game, SU will recognize the 2012 LetterWinners of Distinction. This year's class features George Oechsle '47 (soccer), C. James Zeszutek '72 (wrestling), Jeffrey S. McCormick '83 (lacrosse), Sidney Oglesby '65 (gymnastics), Todd Flaherty '70 (football), Gene Mills '81 (wrestling), Doug Sedgwick '80 (lacrosse), Debbie Gibaratz Tirico '89 (basketball) and Elton Fairbank, honorary (ski coach). Syracuse vs. Connecticut
UConn holds a 6-2 advantage in the series against SU, and won the last five meetings between the two BIG EAST teams. Syracuse is 2-2 in its last four outings, including a 23-15 loss at Rutgers last weekend. The Huskies have lost three of their last four and are searching for their first win in conference play. Second-year UConn head coach Paul Pasqualoni makes his return to the Carrier Dome on Friday. Pasqualoni was the linebackers coach for the Orange from 1987-90 and head coach of the program from 1991-2004.

Nassib's Magic Number
With his 356-yard passing performance at Rutgers on Oct. 13, senior quarterback Ryan Nassib became the first SU signal caller to record four 300-yard games in the same season. His five 300-yard games is a SU record and ties Marvin Grave's standard of five career 300-yard games. Nassib's three consecutive 300-yard games to open up the season (Northwestern, USC, Stony Brook) is a school record.
Gulley a Receiving Threat
In addition to toting the rock, running back Prince-Tyson Gulley is heavily involved in the Orange passing game. Gulley is fourth on the team with 21 receptions for 161 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown against Stony Brook.
Ameen-Moore = Touchdown
During the last two games, running back Adonis Ameen-Moore has been getting more carries in short-yardage situations, especially near the goal line. Against Pittsburgh, he scored a one-yard touchdown on his first rushing attempt of 2012. He also punched it in from three yards out the following week at Rutgers. On only seven carries, his two rushing TDs are tied for the squad lead.
Behind Enemy Lines
Syracuse ranks 11th in the NCAA in tackles for loss at 7.8 per game. The orange has 47.0 tackles for a loss of 168 yards so far in 2012. Defensive end Brandon Sharpe leads SU, and is tied for second in the BIG EAST, with 9.0 TFLs.
