'Cuse All Over NCAA Stat Rankings

The #4/4 Syracuse men's basketball team (8-0) finds itself throughout the NCAA Division I statistics announced on Monday. The Orange are among the top 10 in seven different team and three individual categories.
Sophomore guard Michael Carter-Williams leads the Division I ranks in assist average (10.4) and is third in steal average (3.75). He tallied 16 assists on Saturday against Monmouth, the highest individual total so far this season. It ranked third on Syracuse's single-game list, ranking behind only Sherman Douglas (22) and Pearl Washington (18).
Sophomore forward Rakeem Christmas ranks in a 22nd-place tie for blocked-shot average (2.63).
Syracuse leads the nation in field-goal percentage defense (.328). The Orange are second in scoring margin (+28.5) and steal average (12.8). SU is third in scoring average (84.6) and blocked-shot average (8.9).
The Orange are also sixth in assist average (18.5) and ninth in rebound margin (+11.6).
Syracuse's attendance of 21,760 for Saturday's game against Monmouth is the eighth-largest crowd in college basketball this season.
All statistical rankings for Division I schools includes games of Dec. 9.
Syracuse University is in the midst of exam week. The Orange return to action on Saturday, December 15, against Canisius in the Dome. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
Syracuse takes a 27-game home-court winning streak into the game with the Canisius. It is the longest consecutive victory stretch in Dome history and is the top active streak among Division I schools. Syracuse has also won 50 straight regular-season, non-conference games.
Coach Jim Boeheim is just two wins shy of 900 in his Syracuse tenure. He is four wins away from legendary mentor Bob Knight, who is second on the all-time Division I list with 902 career victories. Only Duke's Mike Krzyzewski has won more.
