Orange Cruises Past Binghamton, 68-45

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -Â Elashier Hall's 14 points led a balanced scoring attack as rv/rv Syracuse women's basketball (10-1) cruised to a 68-45 victory vs. Binghamton (1-10) on Saturday afternoon at the Carrier Dome. Nine different Orange players made their way into the scoring column in a game they never trailed.

Brianna Butler and Kayla Alexander each added 12 points, while Brittney Sykes scored 10 to give the Orange four players in double figures. Shakeya Leary, Sykes and Carmen Tyson-Thomas all had eight rebounds as Syracuse held a 50-38 advantage on the glass, including 17 offensive boards that led to a 13-2 edge in second-half points.

Alexander blocked four shots to give the Orange's all-time leader 300 for her career, while Sykes had five steals for the second game in a row to lead a SU defense that totaled 14 swipes and held the Bearcats to 28.6 percent shooting.

Syracuse, despite shooting 31.7 percent overall, shot 35.7 percent from 3-point range, going 10-of-28, including 4-of-8 and 3-of-6 efforts by Butler and Hall, respectively.

A Butler 3-pointer at the 12:04 mark of the second half put the Orange lead over 20, 45-23, and SU took its largest lead of the game, 25, on an Alexander jumper with 6:20 to go, making it 59-34, before it finished the game up 23.

Hall started the second half with a five-straight points on a 3-pointer and a drive to the basket giving SU a 35-17 lead with 18:40 to go and a 15-0 run going back to the 4:41 mark of the first half, a span of 7:07.

The Orange led for the entire first half, but never by more than eight points until Sykes got a steal and converted a 3-point play with 1:12 to go, making it 27-17. Pachis Roberts followed with a 3-pointer from the left wing with 10 seconds left to send SU into halftime with a 30-17 lead.

Alexander was limited to four points and two rebounds in the first half after she picked up her second foul with 13:26 left and sat for the duration of the half.
Sharae Swinson led the Bearcats with 10 points.

The Orange remains home to host Washington State on Friday, Dec. 21 in a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Carrier Dome.
