Senior forward James Southerland has been named to the BIG EAST Conference weekly honor roll announced on December 17.
In Syracuse's only game of the past week, Southerland had a squad-leading 21 points in the team's 85-61 victory against Canisius. He also added five rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals in 32 minutes of action.
Southerland is averaging 15.2 points-per-game this season, just shy of Brandon Triche's team-leading mark of 15.3. Southerland tops SU in three-point baskets (21).
Syracuse hosts Detroit in the Chevrolet Gotham Classic tonight in the Carrier Dome. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m.
