Syracuse sophomore guard Michael Carter-Williams is on the watch list of candidates for the 2013 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award announced by The Naismith Memorial Baskeball Hall of Fame.
Carter-Williams leads Division I in assist average (10.7) and ranks third in steal average (3.4). He has already posted seven double-digit assist games in 10 outings. He is averaging 12.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, both good for the third-best mark on the squad.
Syracuse is ranked third in both national polls and has won all 10 games this season. The Orange play Temple in the Chevrolet Gotham Classic on Saturday, December 22, at Madison Square Garden.
Over 80 candidates have been nominated for the 2013 Bob Cousy Award. The watch list will be narrowed down to a final 20 in January, 10 in February and a final five in March. A selection committee, appointed by the Hall of Fame, will review the final candidates. The winne will be presented at the Hall of Fame's Class Announcement on Championship Monday in Atlanta as part of the NCAA Final Four weekend.
Kendall Marshall from North Carolina won the award a year ago.
