SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Jim Boeheim tied Bobby Knight for second place on the all-time Division I career-wins list after leading the #7/7 Orange (12-1) to a 96-62 victory against Central Connecticut State (4-7) in the Carrier Dome on Monday.

The triumph was Boeheim's 902nd at the Syracuse helm. It represents the most victories at one school by a Division I coach. Duke's Mike Krzyzewski is first on the list of Division I coaching victories. Boeheim will get a chance to pass Knight when the Orange open the conference season on Wednesday against Rutgers.

The victory also extened the Syracuse home-court winning streak to 32 consecutive contests, which is the longest, active run in Division I.

Sophomore guard Michael Carter-Williams just missed out on a triple-double. He tallied a career-high 18 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds.

Junior forward C.J. Fair contributed a double-double, totaling 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore forward Rakeem Christmas also notched 10 rebounds, helping SU to a 57-32 rebounding advantage against Central Connecticut.

Freshman center DaJuan Coleman had 13 points and nine rebounds, senior guard Brandon Triche had 13 points and senior forward James Southerland scored 11 points in a reserve role.

Trailing 21-20, Syacuse used a 10-0 run to build a seven-point lead. The Orange never trailed again. A 15-0 unanswered stretch, featuring three-point baskets from Fair, redshirt freshmanguard Trevor Cooney and Carter-Williams, increased the Orange advantage to 19 points at 43-24 with 3:06 remaining in the half.

SU entered the intermission ahead of the Blue Devils by 21 points after a pair of back-to-back buckets from Fair and Carter-Williams secured a 47-26 lead.

Syracuse opened the second half with an 11-0 streak, led by Triche, who posted five points within the span, to help the Orange to a 66-33 advantage. The SU lead ballooned to as much as 35 points with less than two minutes remaining in the game, before the contest ended with a 96-62 victory.

The Orange is back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 2 in its first BIG EAST Conference contest of the season, hosting Rutgers at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
