
Lyde-Cajuste and Alexander Named Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior forward Matt Lyde-Cajuste (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) of the men's basketball team and senior center Kayla Alexander (Milton, Ontario) of the women's basketball team are the Syracuse University Orange Scholar-Athletes for the week of December 3, 2012.

Lyde-Cajuste has seen action in four games this season, recording three rebounds. Last season, he played in ten contests for the Orange. He has been a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in two semesters at SU, and was selected to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in 2010. He is majoring in mechanical engineering in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Alexander is the leading the team in scoring and rebounding with 156 points and 68 rebounds, averaging 19.5 points per game. She has posted double-digit points in each contest in 2012, following a standout season in 2011, where she finished 19th in the national and first in the BIG EAST with 2.6 blocked shots per game.

She has been a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester at SU and a member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team across all three years.

She is dual majoring in French and social studies education in the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Education.

Lyde-Cajuste and the #4/4 ranked men's basketball team will be in action on Thursday, Dec. 6 against Long Beach State at 8 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Alexander and the rest of Orange women's basketball team will face off against Wagner on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.Â
