SYRACUSE, N.Y.  – Freshman goalkeeper Alex Bono was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Second Freshman Team of the Season when the squads was released by the website Thursday, Dec. 6. It is Bono's third postseason honor, as he was also named to the College Soccer News All-Freshman First Team last week and the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team in November.

Bono started 20 matches for the Orange this season, recording 10 shutouts and 79 saves. The rookie goalie was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week three times, an SU soccer record. He also posted a career-high eight saves in SU's final two NCAA Tournament games against No. 19 VCU and No. 6 Georgetown.

Bono's 0.85 season goals-against average ranks fifth in the SU record books, while his 10 shutouts are the most for an Orange goalie since Rick Fatscher had 10 in 1984.

Bono led the Orange to the NCAA third round, the farthest Syracuse has ever advanced in the NCAA Championship. SU captured its first NCAA Tournament victories in program history this season, and recorded its most wins (14) since the1986 campaign.
