SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Kris Joseph acts like a kid, and that is why he is good at what he does. Yes, leading the nation's second-ranked team in scoring is nice, but the family and childhood studies major likes to make an impact in children's lives as well.
When Joseph is not on the court, he spends his time at the Bernice M. Wright Child Development School perfecting his trade in hopes of one day opening his own daycare when his playing days are over.
“I see myself running my own daycare once I am done with basketball,” Joseph said. “Kids make you forget about a lot, and you kind of become a kid yourself. Being around kids brightens up my day. They are so funny and innocent and it's something I really enjoy doing.”
The Montreal, Quebec native finds being at the daycare a perfect balance with the rigorous demands of working towards his childhood dream -- winning a national championship.
“Most people dream about going to the NBA, but I have always dreamed about winning a national championship and hearing 'One Shining Moment' as I hold up the trophy,” Joseph said. “I get goose bumps because we are so close, we have the team to do it and we are all on the same page.”
