With each game played during the 2011-12 season, SU women's basketball junior center Kayla Alexander continues to join the Orange greats. The Milton, Ontario native has moved up the SU career records list in multiple categories this year, with still one season of eligibility remaining.
Alexander has managed to climb to ninth on the all-time points list with 1,276 in just 96 games played, and is nine points behind Beth Record (1998-2011) for eighth place. Her career average of 13.3 points per game puts her at eighth on the list while her .527 field goal percentage ranks her at fourth all-time.
Alexander, who was named to the 2011 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, recently passed current SU graduate assistant Erica Morrow (2008-11) for second in career free throws made with 358, only behind Nicole Michael (2007-10) with 425.
Alexander is fourth on Syracuse's career free-throws list with 483, and trails Paula Moore (1997-99, 2000-01) by eight for third on the all-time list.
On the defensive end, Alexander has blocked 224 shots in three years, putting her at third on the list behind only Vaida Spiaviciute (234) and Holly Oslander (262).
Alexander has started every game this season for the Orange, averaging 14.9 points per game that ranks second on the team and ninth in the BIG EAST. Her 7.6 rebounds per game is also second on the team (10th in the conference), while her 2.6 blocked shots per game leads the league and is 22nd in the nation.
The Orange (15-10, 4-7) will travel to No. 20/17 Louisville on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. tip.
