NEW YORK – The 2/2 Syracuse University men's basketball team (31-1) will face Cincinnati (23-9) in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament tonight at 7:00 p.m. inside Madison Square Garden.

The Orange will be making its 23rd appearance in the BIG EAST Championship semifinals in the 33 year history of the tournament. SU is 15-7 all-time in the semifinals.

SU advanced with a 58-55 victory against Connecticut (20-13) in yesterday's first quarterfinal game. Dion Waiters scored a game-high 18 points, while Kris Joseph and James Southerland each had 10. Joseph was 8-of-13 from the free throw line and Southerland scored all of his points in the second half.

The fourth seeded Bearcats outlasted the five seed Georgetown yesterday in double overtime by a score of 72-70. Yance Gates poured in a season-high 23 points and had eight rebounds in the victory.

Syracuse and Cincinnati last met on January 23rd at Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati. The Orange defeated the Bearcats 60-53 behind 17 points from Joseph and 13 points from Scoop Jardine.

Tonight's game will be televised on ESPN. The winner of the first semifinal contest will play with winner of Louisville and Notre Dame, which will follow the Syracuse vs. Cincinnati game.

The Office of Alumni Relations and the Big Apple Orange Alumni Club will host a party for SU alumni and fans at Stout NYC from 5 pm to 9 pm on Friday, March 9. Anyone interested in attending should register at http://invite.syr.edu/bigeast. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
