SYRACUSE, N.Y. – In preparation for the upcoming Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men's U-19 World Championship, rising Syracuse University sophomore Ralph D'Agostino will lead the United States U-19 National Team in an exhibition game against a group of all-stars from Eastern Pennsylvania Saturday, June 23 at 8 p.m. at Radnor High School.
The contest is the second of three exhibitions for Team USA leading up to the 2012 FIL U-19 World Championship, which gets underway in July in Turku, Finland. Tickets for Saturday's exhibition are $8 with all proceeds going to benefit the national team.
D'Agostino was named to the 23-man U.S. roster last summer. This spring, he appeared in 13 games for the Orange as a rookie long-stick midfielder, collecting 13 ground balls. He also manned the wing on faceoffs and went 9-for-18 (.500) himself at the faceoff X.
A pair of D'Agostino's Syracuse teammates will also be on the field Saturday. Orange defenseman, and Germantown Academy grad, Bobby Tait will suit up for the Eastern PA All-Stars, as will SU midfielder, and Haverford School product, Matt Walters. Tait did not play in any games for Syracuse in the spring. Walters saw action in 10 contests, mainly on the man-up unit, and totaled seven points (five goals, two assists).
The U.S. concludes its exhibition schedule on Sunday, July 1 against a team of New Jersey all-stars before heading to Finland for the world championship. The Americans are the six-time defending U-19 world champions and own a 36-0 all-time record in international competition.
