SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Add one more list to the many that senior wide receiver Alec Lemon can find his name on. The 2011 All-Big EAST second team selection is one of 49 players to be listed on the 2012 Blietnikoff Award Preseason Watch List. The annual award recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football and is sponsored by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc.
Lemon, who set the Syracuse single-season reception record last season with 68 receptions, is only one of three BIG EAST wide receivers on the list. He is also listed fifth in the SU record books with 129 career receptions and is tied for ninth with 11 touchdown receptions. The Crofton, MD native has seen action in every game in his career and was the primary starter for the past two seasons.
The award is named after Fred Biletnikoff, an All-Pro receiver with the Oakland Raiders and an All-America receiver at Florida State University. Biletnikoff is also a member of the pro and college football halls of fame. The recipient of the Biletnikoff Award is chosen by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee which is a group of over 180 prominent football journalists, commentators, and receivers.
