
Nassib and Holloway Named Orange Scholar-Athletes

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Graduate student and quarterback Ryan Nassib (West Chester, Pa.) of the football team and Senior Iona Holloway (Glasgow, Scotland) of the Orange field hockey team are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for August 29, 2012.
Nassib is one of 21 quarterbacks who have been named to the 2012 Senior Bowl Watch List, along with 15 student-athletes from the BIG EAST.
He is also a candidate for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, a prestigious award given to the finest quarterback in the country.
Nassib was a 2010 ESPN Academic All-District Team selection as well as a three-year member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. In May, Nassib completed his undergraduate degree in Finance and is presently working on his master's degree in Accounting in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
Holloway earned honors for her performance at the 2011 BIG EAST Championship after being named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team.
A three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, Holloway has been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in every semester at SU. She earned preseason honors after being selected to the 2012 All-BIG EAST Preseason Team.
Holloway is dual majoring in magazine journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and psychology in the College Arts and Sciences.
Nassib will lead the Orange football team in the 2012 season home opener on Saturday, September 1 in the Carrier Dome (12 p.m., ABC). Individual and season tickets are available online and at the Carrier Dome Box Office.
