The Legend of Orange Football on Display

The display is impressive. The message is clear. The newly renovated Syracuse University Football wing says it all – the Orange has a long and storied tradition that will continue to grow.
"The success stories are here – The National Championship trophy, the Heisman Trophy, the Bowl games, and the academic and post-football success. That embodies what this program is all about. Our student-athletes are leaving here with a degree from an outstanding academic institution with a chance to play in the National Football League and are succeeding in life after football," said head coach Scott Shafer. "It is great to walk into the new facility and know that the players before us have earned this for everyone who follows them. We have inherited a great facility and will benefit from it for years to come. It is a result all of the hard work that Coach Marrone and so many others have put into this program."
The success stories, the hardware and the videos tell the story of a proud program that has a pyramid structure – a solid foundation that leads to the pinnacle of success on and off the field.
From the inaugural season in 1889 to the 2012 New Era Pinstripe Bowl victory in Yankee Stadium, the accomplishments are many, including:
"We are trying to find the next great one to add to our Hall of Fame – that is our objective."

- Forty five Orange have earned All-America honors 56 times;
- Eighteen men who have been on the SU sidelines have been enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame, and seven have been immortalized in the Professional Football Hall of Fame;
- Fifteen have earned Academic All-America honors, five have been named National Football Foundation Scholar-Athletes;
- The Orange has earned invitations to every BCS Bowl.
