SYRACUSE – Attention Orange Nation! Syracuse University has been nominated as one of the top college basketball student sections in the country and is now asking for fan support to help claim the prestigious title of the Naismith Student Section of the Year.
Once a day, SU fans can visit www.facebook.com/ILove CollegeHoops and vote Otto's Army as the top student section in college basketball, helping the Orange win $10,000 for its general scholarship fund and of course, bragging rights.
The Naismith Student Section of the Year Award, is presented through a partnership of The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), an affiliate of IMG College, and the Atlanta Tipoff Club, as well as administrators of the Naismith Awards. It's dedicated annually to celebrating fans that love college hoops and provide support to their team with devotion and passion.
The award will be determined through two rounds of public votes, combined with a scoring of finalists by the Naismith Awards Board of Selectors, which will review criteria such as the student section's name and attendance, as well as photos, video and a write-up submitted by the nominating school.
The Carrier Dome, America's most famous and largest structure of its kind on a college campus is a facility that generates media exposure and adds glamour that attracts some of the nation's most talented student-athletes to Syracuse University. The electricity and cheers that 33,000 screaming fans bring to the Carrier Dome sends chills through your body when watching the Orange dominate its opponents on the basketball court.
Nearly 160 Colleges and Universities from 25 different conferences will be vying for the award this year, so do you part and vote for Otto's Army today.
