Triche scored a season-high 25 points against Rutgers and another team-high 20 points at USF

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior guard Brandon Triche was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday, for his team-high performances last week against Rutgers and USF.

Triche totaled a season-high 25 points against the Scarlet Knights, leading the #7/7 Orange (14-1, 2-0) to a 78-53 triumph in the Carrier Dome. He then returned to command the offense with a team-high 20 points at USF, including a game changing bucket with 3:23 remaining to give Syracuse control of the lead at 24-23, eventually resulting in a 55-44 SU victory.

He is the leading Orange scorer, with 225 points, averaging 15.0 points per game after shooting .727 (8-of-11) from the field and .714 (5-of-7) from behind the three-point arc against Rutgers.

Triche and the rest of the Orange will hit the road this week, facing Providence (Wednesday, 7 p.m., BIG EAST Networks/SNY/Time Warner Cable Sports) before returning home to welcome Villanova to the Carrier Dome (Saturday, 12 p.m., ESPNU).
