The Augusta Sports Council released its list of 85 nominees for the 2013 Ray Guy Award, which identifies the nation's top collegiate punter and included Syracuse's own Riley Dixon. The list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists on November 8.
Dixon, a sophomore from Blossvale, N.Y., has become a stand-out player for the Orange since he assumed the starting punter role prior to the third game of the season. He has since been named to the 2013 Phil Steele Midseason All-ACC third team.
Dixon is averaging 44.0 yards per punt, which ranks second in the ACC and 16th nationally. He has recorded nine punts of at least 50 yards and set a school record against Clemson, booting it 75 yards and landing it inside the ten yard line.
The 2013 Orange will host Wake Forest on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 12:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Former Syracuse quarterback Donovan McNabb will be honored at the game with the retirement of his jersey and the 2013 LetterWinners of Distinction will be recognized.
Tickets for the Wake Forest game are available starting at $29. They can be ordered online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office. For $75 fans can take advantage of the Tops Family Four Pack, which includes two adult tickets, two youth tickets, a $5 concession voucher, free cushion seats with seatback for the game, and one Skytop parking pass.
