Syracuse Starts Season Tied For Eighth In AP Poll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – With the 2013-14 campaign set to get underway on Friday, Nov. 1, the Associated Press released its preseason poll on Thursday with Syracuse coming in a tie for eighth.
The Orange garnered 1,093 points putting them even with Oklahoma State. Duke, which received 1,435 points and two first place votes, was the top team in the Atlantic Coast Conference and will begin the season ranked fourth.
The top four teams in the AP poll mirrored the USA Today Coaches Poll with Kentucky, Michigan State and Louisville rounding out the top three. The Wildcats (1,546 points), which received 27 first place votes, edged out Michigan State (1,543) with its 22 votes for the top spot. Defending national champion Louisville had the other 14 first place votes.
North Carolina (12th), Notre Dame (21st) and Virginia (24th) were the only other ACC schools selected in the top-25. Pittsburgh and Boston College were among the other institutions receiving votes.
Syracuse opens the season with an exhibition against Holy Family on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. Tickets for Friday's contest are available online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).
