Longtime rival Pittsburgh will make another appearance in Syracuse for a conference matchup but for the first time the Orange and the Panthers are playing for a win towards their ACC record. The two will go head-to-head for the 69th time in the second longest series between SU and an opponent, two games short of its rivalry with Penn State.
SU and Pitt kickoff at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 in the Carrier Dome.
"It has been a lot of years, we've played since 1955 against that Pitt Panther team," head coach Scott Shafer said. "What a great tradition in the northeast. I remember growing up as a kid watching those games when snow is coming down or in the Loud House and it's shaking. Just some great games over the years with some unbelievable players. For me it's a little bit humbling to be able to represent as a head coach here and get a chance to play in that old northeast rivalry. We're excited about it and no one's more excited about it than me."
Syracuse and Pittsburgh have an all-time record of 31-34-3. The Orange claimed victory in the last meeting, winning 14-13 in the Dome last season. The Panthers and the Orange have been evenly matched over the years with SU averaging 19.6 points per game and Pitt averaging 19.8. Each team has enjoyed periods of success. The Orange went on an 11 game winning streak between 1991 and 2001 and the Panthers won seven straight games starting in 2005 until SU stopped the run last season.
Tickets for both the Pitt and Boston College games can be purchased online, in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B), or by calling 1-888-DOMETIX.
There are several ticket packages available for every fans' needs. Group rates start at $200 and include 10 tickets and $20 towards concessions.
