Shafer Talks Pitt on Radio Show
11/21/2013 4:35:00 PM | Football
Head coach Scott Shafer is excited for the opportunity to continue the longtime northeast rivalry between Syracuse and Pittsburgh this season despite the change in conference. The Orange and the Panthers face off on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. (ACC Network).
Â
"With the advent of all the super-conferences in the country and the college football changes that are happening, I think there's something kind of cool about watching a Syracuse vs. Pitt game, a Michigan vs. Ohio State game, USC vs. UCLA, all the ones that we grew up watching," Shafer said. "Flipping on the TV and being familiar with them and saying, 'Hey! There they go again! Remember three years ago when this happened? Remember that one game, what year was that?' To me that's what the old-time rivalries are about."
Â
Fans can watch and listen to Coach Shafer talk about the rivalry tonight, first at 6:30 p.m. on Syracuse Sidelines on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. Shafer will then make his weekly appearance at Red Robin in Fayetteville for his weekly radio show, which starts at 7 p.m. Join him for a burger or listen live on Syracuse IMG Sports Network, locally broadcast on TK99.
Â
Tickets for both the Pitt and Boston College games can be purchased online, in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B), or by calling 1-888-DOMETIX.
There are several ticket packages available for every fans' needs. Group rates start at $200 and include 10 tickets and $20 towards concessions. The Rivalry Package is $79 and includes tickets to both the Pitt and Boston College games as well as the Indiana men's basketball game. For families, the TOPS package is the perfect fit. Available for $75, the package includes two adult and two youth tickets, $5 towards concessions and a parking pass for Skytop.Â
Saturday's game with the Panthers is 'I'm In Day' at the Dome. Orange Nation temporary tattoos will be given out and a family fun zone will be set up on the Quad that will include games, face painting and jumping toys for kids. At halftime, the marching band will perform with other local bands.Â
