The Syracuse football team has been preparing all week for its final game of the regular season, a matchup with Boston College in the Carrier Dome on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 3:30 p.m. The Orange is 5-6 on the season, just one game away from becoming bowl eligible.
Â
The Eagles present interesting challenges on offense, most notably their running back powerhouse Andre Williams. Williams is currently the NCAA leader in total rushing yards and rushing yards per game. He has amassed 2,073 net yards so far this season and averages 188.5 per game.
Â
"The dynamics of what we're going to face this week are going to be different because BC is going to load up on two, three and four tight ends or put another offensive lineman in at the tight end position," head coach Scott Shafer said. "Some of the things that you see with what Stanford has done in the past, Coach Harbaugh, the 49ers, they do some of those things. They're going to run power every way you can imagine running power. [Andre Williams] is a great player. He is not an average player, he's a great football player who's durable. He's tough, he's big, he has thick legs and he plays hurt. The dynamics are such that in the scheme if they load up then you've got to load up a little bit and it's going to be one of those fights in the trenches."
Â
Coach Shafer will break down Boston College tonight on his radio show, live at Red Robin at 7 p.m. Stop by to have a burger with the leader of the Orange!
Â
Saturday is senior day and 19 players and five student managers will be recognized in the pre-game ceremony. Captains Jay Bromley, Macky MacPherson, Jerome Smith and Marquis Spruill will be honored alongside quarterbacks Drew Allen and Charley Loeb, wide receivers Christopher Clark, John Kinder and Jarrod West, defensive lineman Zian Jones, cornerbacks Ri'Shard Anderson and Keon Lyn, offensive linemen Daniel Anyaegbunam and Sean Hickey, linebackers Lewellyn Coker and Zachary McCarrell, tight end Beckett Wales, safety Jeremi Wilkes and long snapper Eric Morris. Student managers Matte Ashe, Nick Capparelli, Anthony Dragona, Devin Hill and Zach Spitzer will also line up with the players before the game.
Â
Syracuse Athletics would like to say thank you to the seniors as well as the fans by offering a special Thanksgiving ticket deal. A special offer for a $44 four pack for the BC game is now available exclusively online. Use the promotional code FANTHX44 during checkout to get the deal.
