
Coaches Select Five to All-ACC Team

GREENSBORO, N.C.—Five Orange were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Football team, as selected by the league's 14 head coaches. Macky MacPherson earned second team honors while Jerome Smith, Jay Bromley, Marquis Spruill and Durell Eskridge were all named to the third team.

MacPherson is the anchor of an offensive line that has helped Syracuse average 193.8 rushing yards per game, which ranks fourth in the ACC. He was also named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team this season.

Smith, a junior running back, leads SU in rushing with 840 yards on 184 carries and has 12 total touchdowns (11 rushing) on the season. He has 2,145 career yards, which ranks 16th in school history and he has eight career 100-yard games which also ranks ninth in the SU record book.

Bromley is the leader of the defensive line. He has amassed nine sacks and forced three fumbles this season. He is part of a defense that ranks 11th in the nation in third-down defense (.322, 55-171) and 19th in tackles for loss (7.3 per game), including an average of 2.75 sacks per contest.

Eskridge leads the Orange with 78 tackles and four interceptions. His four picks helped Syracuse to a 27th national ranking in intercepted passes (15). He was named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week twice this season for his performances against NC State and Pittsburgh.
Spruill is second on the team in tackles (62), including a team-high 13.5 for a loss. He is tied with Duke Pettijohn for second in SU history with 40.5 career TFLs.

Florida State led the way with 11 first team, four second team and two third team selections as well as an honorable mention. Freshman quarterback Jameis Winston swept all the awards he was eligible for, being named the Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and Offensive Rookie of the Year.Â
