SYRACUSE, N.Y. -Â The Syracuse women's basketball team is ranked No. 20 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 Poll, its highest ranking in program history. The Orange's previous all-time highest ranking was No. 21 on Feb 18, 2013 and Feb. 11, 2008.
Â
Led by eighth-year head coach Quentin Hillsman, SU is coming off a 3-0 week in which it extended its non-conference home winning streak to 60 games, dating back to the 2006-07 season. Â The week began with an 82-76 win vs. Temple on Monday, and after a dominating 80-44 victory over Niagara on Thursday, finished the week with a thrilling 64-62 buzzer-beating win vs. Saint Joseph's on Saturday.
Â
Syracuse garnered 198 points in this week poll, moving it up three spots from last week's No. 23 ranking when it garnered 120. This is the fourth-straight week the Orange has been ranked in the top 25.
Â
The ACC has more ranked teams than any other conference in the AP poll with six: No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Duke, No. 8 Maryland, No. 10 North Carolina, No. 20 Syracuse and No. 22 Florida State. NC State and Georgia Tech are both receiving votes.
Â
The Orange has started the season 11-1 for the fifth time in program history, three of which have come in the last four seasons. Syracuse hosts its first home conference game on Jan. 9 when No. 3 Duke comes to the Carrier Dome for the first time. Tickets can be purchased online, at the Carrier Dome Box Office, or by calling 1-888-DOMETIX. As always, parking is free at women's basketball games.
