HOUSTON -- Three Orange players will suit back up for the Texas Bowl after missing games due to injury at the end of the regular season. Running back Prince-Tyson Gulley, offensive tackle Sean Hickey and wide receiver Jarrod West will be ready to go against Minnesota on Friday.
Â
Gulley was the 2012 New Era Pinstripe Bowl Most Valuable Player last season for his 217-yard, three-touchdown performance against West Virginia. He has amassed 440 yards in 10 games on the ground this year. Gulley missed the Pittsburgh and Boston College games after being injured early in the Florida State matchup on Nov. 16.
West was also hurt in the Florida State and has missed SU's last two contests. Hickey will play after fighting through an injury from the Pittsburgh game that left him only able to play a portion of the team's 34-31 victory versus Boston College.
"I wish we could get them all back," head coach Scott Shafer said. "I feel bad because some of the kids who got us in a position to be here will be back on the football team, but a handful won't. It's always good to get those kids back, especially the seniors."
Â
Tomorrow the team will get together, along with the coaches and their families, for a Christmas dinner after a morning practice at Rice University.
Â
"It's a working Christmas, but we do have a nice dinner planned," Â Shafer said. "These kids, they love it, just as my children do. It's cool to be away for Christmas in a great town like Houston in a nice hotel. For the most part, it's business as usual."
