David and Laurie Funk of Lebanon, Pennsylvania thought they were just purchasing tickets to the highly anticipated Syracuse vs. Georgetown game at the Carrier Dome. Little did they know, the 1986 Orange alums had purchased the last available tickets to the sold out game.

 "We knew we had the worst seats but we were just amazed that we had the last seats," Laurie said.

The Funks were just two of the 35,012 that attended that game and helped set the NCAA record for on-campus attendance. The Funks' daughter, Sarah, a freshman at SU, was also in attendance at the game.

"We were both students back here in the 1980's," David said. "We just love Syracuse basketball and Syracuse sports."

Both David and Laurie were members of the Orange cross country team when they attended school at Syracuse.

"I was all set to go to go to a restaurant but Dave really wanted to be here so we are here," Laurie said.

The Funks weren't finished being surprised just yet. When they arrived at their seats, they learned that Key Bank had upgraded their seats from the farthest in the Carrier Dome, to the closest to the court.
