Jones & McClain Join List of Orange Super Bowl Champions!

Orange in the Super Bowl
Defensive lineman Arthur Jones and linebacker Jameel McClain join 25 other former Syracuse football players as Super Bowl Champions with the Baltimore Ravens 34-31 victory against San Francisco in Super Bowl XLVII. Jones recorded two solo tackles, including a sack, and recovered fumble for the Ravens. McClain, who earned a spot on the Baltimore roster as a free agent in 2008, was placed on injured reserve in mid December due to a spinal contusion.
Syracuse has had a strong presence in the National Football League's biggest game since its inception.
- Former Syracuse standouts have won 35 Super Bowl titles, including The five multiple winners in Larry Csonka (Miami), Daryl Johnston (Dallas), Marcus Paul (assistant strength and conditioning coach, New England), Tom Coughlin (head coach, New York Giants) and Anthony Smith (Pittsburgh and Green Bay).
- The Orange has been represented on six of the last seven Super Bowl Championship teams and Syracuse has had at least one player in the last seven world title games.
- Since 1991, there has been at least one former Orange standout in the Super Bowl with the exception of 2005, and in 19 of those games, Syracuse has had a player earn a Super Bowl ring.
- Going back to 1980, Syracuse has been represented by a former player in 29 of 34 Super Bowls.
