PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Michael Carter-Williams and C.J. Fair earned second-team recognition and Brandon Triche was a third-team selection to the All-BIG EAST Conference team announced on Sunday.
Syracuse has posted a 23-8 overall record and an 11-7 league record. The Orange own the fifth seed heading into the BIG EAST Conference Tournament and will play the winner of Seton Hall-USF on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
Carter-Williams owns a 12.5 scoring average. His assist (7.6) and steal (2.9) averages rank among the nation's best. He has started all 31 games for the Orange.
Fair averages team-best marks in scoring (14.5) and rebounding (7.1) averages. Hi.s .792 free-throw percentage also tops the squad.
Triche enters the BIG EAST Tournament averaging 13.9 points per game.
The conference's head coaches choose the all-conference teams. The coaches are not permitted to vote for their own players. The league announced the All-BIG EAST First, Second and Third Teams in addition to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team.
The BIG EAST Player of the Year will come from the All-BIG EAST First Team. The conference will announce Player of the Year, BIG EAST Coach of the Year, BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and American Eagle Outfitters BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Tuesday, March 12. The announcement will be made on the first day of The BIG EAST Championship Presented by American Eagle Outfitters at Madison Square Garden. The other league individual awards will be announced Monday, March 11.
Georgetown forward Otto Porter, Jr. was named unanimously to the All-BIG EAST First Team, the league announced. Louisville placed two players on the first team, guard Russ Smith and center Gorgui Dieng. The other first team selections were Connecticut guard Shabazz Napier, Notre Dame forward Jack Cooley and Providence guard Bryce Cotton.
