Safety Shamarko Thomas is the third Orange football standout to be drafted in this year's 2013 NFL Draft. The Virginia Beach, Va. native was the 111th selection in the fourth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Thomas joins fellow teammates and 2012 captains, Justin Pugh and Ryan Nassib in this year's draft. Pugh was the 19th overall pick by the New York Giants, while Nassib was also chosen by the Giants with the 110th overall selection in the fourth round. Â
Thomas is the first Syracuse safety to be drafted in the NFL since Anthony Smith was selected in the third round as the 83rd pick of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is the first Syracuse player to be chosen by Pittsburgh since Smith was selected.  Check out the former Orange who have played for the Pittsburgh Steelers here.

He was also named to the ESPN.com All-BIG EAST Team and honored as an ECAC Division I Football Sub-Division All-Star.
