
Joe Giansante is the newest member of the Orange athletics senior administration.
Giansante Joins Senior Administration

Syracuse athletics appointed Joe Giansante as executive senior associate athletics director/chief communications officer and external affairs. A veteran of the television broadcast and intercollegiate athletics administration, Giansante has an extensive background in communications and media enterprises, including in the creation and management of a regional sports network and as a media rights negotiator. At Syracuse, he will oversee sports information, executive athletic communications, digital enterprises and production plus new and traditional media operations and contracts for SU in conjunction with the ACC. In addition, he will help manage the IMG multi-media rights relationship, brand management and other external revenue generating functions for SU Athletics.
Giansante began his intercollegiate athletics administrative career at the University of Oregon in 2007 to lead the effort to reinstate baseball, and the construction of award-winning PK Park. He was promoted to senior associate athletics director for communication and brand management the same year. In that role he was responsible for all external departments, including management of the Oregon athletics brand. Giansante negotiated and managed a new 10 -year $67 million multi-media rights agreement with IMG, new licensing/merchandising contracts and a new digital contract for Oregon's athletics website. Giansante also served on the initial committee for the formation of the Pac-12 Networks. In addition, he oversaw the creative services department, sports Information, marketing, promotions and game day experience, plus all digital and social media enterprises. Giansante also served 12 years as television play-by-play voice for all Oregon sports broadcasts.
Prior to entering athletics administration, Giansante covered college athletics as a TV sports director, anchor and reporter for multiple television and radio stations in Oregon, California and Arizona. From 2000 through 2011, he was an executive producer and on-air talent for OSN - ESPN Regional, and CSN in Association with the University of Oregon. In addition to serving as the Ducks TV play-by-play announcer, he also executive produced, wrote and hosted coaches shows and other programming for Oregon football, men's and women's basketball, baseball and track and field.
For the past two years, Giansante was in private business as the Director of Media and Communications for the Triton Management/Endeavor Capital Group where he worked in executive management of marketing, media and communications. He created and managed media relations and branding, public affairs and public relations campaigns and managed and negotiated all multi-media sponsorships, which included partnerships with the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Angels. He also owned a private consulting business, reviewing collegiate football and basketball game-day experience, marketing-branding and leading collegiate football and basketball coaching searches.
