
Twelve former Orange players took part in the 2013 NBA Summer League

Former Orange players were on display all month long, as a total of 12 Syracuse alums were on hand at either the NBA's Orlando or Las Vegas Summer League from July 7 to 22.
Michael Carter-Williams, the 11th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2013 NBA Draft, averaged 13.6 points, 6.8 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game is five outings with the 76ers in Orlando. His assist average ranked second in Orlando and third in all of the Summer League, while the scoring average was 15th-best in Orlando. Carter-Williams' best performance came in his debut when he went off for 26 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
Jonny Flynn, the sixth overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, played for the Indiana Pacers in Orlando and the Los Angeles Clippers in Las Vegas. In four games, three with the Pacers and one with the Clippers, Flynn averaged two points and two assists per game.
Forward Donte Greene, the 28th selection in the 2008 NBA Draft, was third on the Memphis Grizzlies in scoring at 11.7 points per game and added 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in six games in Las Vegas. However, in his final four games, Greene averaged 16.25 points and shot 24-55 (43.6-percent) from the field and 8-21 (38.1-percent) from three point range.
Rick Jackson split time between the Utah Jazz and the Indiana Pacers, playing one game for each in Orlando. The forward recorded averages of 4.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
Jackson's former teammate in high school and at Syracuse, Scoop Jardine, battled his way back from injury to make his Summer League debut after going undrafted in 2012. Jardine appeared in one game for the Cleveland Cavaliers in Las Vegas and grabbed three rebounds and dished out one assist.
The 22nd overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Fab Melo played in five games, starting three for the Boston Celtics in Orlando. Melo had a solid Summer League, averaging 6.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
Suiting up for the Milwaukee Bucks in Las Vegas, Demetris Nichols, the 53rd overall selection in the 2007 NBA Draft, tallied 5.2 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. Nichols had his best game of the summer in the finale, scoring 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting and passed out two assists.
Center Arinze Onuaku was a consistent force for the Las Vegas Summer League runner-up Phoenix Suns. Onuaku led the team with 6.4 rebounds per game and added 6.9 points and 0.9 blocks per contest, while averaging only 17.3 minutes in seven games. An NBA Development League All-Star selection last season, Onuaku posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action in a win against the Grizzlies.
Sharp-shooter Andy Rautins, the 38th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, made an appearance in all five games for the Chicago Bulls in Las Vegas. Rautins, who led the D-League in three pointers made and three-point field goal percentage in 2012-13, chipped in all around the court with 5.0 points, 2.2 rebounds. 0.8 assists and 0.8 steals per game.
Undrafted free agent James Southerland started the Summer League with the Philadelphia 76ers in Orlando before helping the Golden State Warriors claim the inaugural Summer League title. Southerland played a total of 12 games between the two teams – five with Philadelphia and seven with Golden State -- averaging 5.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game with 10 three-pointers.
Brandon Triche also made his Summer League debut, appearing in five games for the Charlotte Bobcats in Las Vegas. In just under 13 minutes a game of playing time, Triche had averages of 7.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, while shooting 57.9-percent from the floor and 50-percent from behind the arc.
