Syracuse University kicker Ross Krautman (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) sustained a hip-related injury which will require surgery. As a result of the surgery and rehabilitation process, Krautman will not return for the 2013 season.
Krautman is one of the most succesful kickers in SU history. He ranks third in career field goals (49), fourth in career extra points (110) and fifth in career points (257) at Syracuse. He tied the school record in season field goals in 2010 with 18. Krautman's 43 extra points last year ranks in a fourth-place tie on the SU list. In two games this season he was 4-of-5 on extra points and 1-of-2 on field goals.
Syracuse is off to a 2-2 start in 2013 under first-year head coach Scott Shafer. The Orange has won two in a row and now has an open week before hosting Clemson on Saturday, October 5.
