SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse goes for its third consecutive win when it hosts the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. Admission is free of charge.
The Orange is coming off back-to-back shutouts last weekend on its home field to improve its record to 3-1. Fairleigh Dickinson enters Thursday's contest with a 2-1 mark this season.
SERIES RECORD
These teams have not competed since the 2007 season home opener in which the Orange offense dominated, leading it to a 2-0 victory against the Knights. Syracuse outshot FDU, 23-5, and held an 11-1 corner advantage over the Knights.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Last Sunday, the Orange improved its record to 3-1-0 when it defeated Colgate, 1-0, in a match that sent the Raiders home with their first loss of the season. Syracuse's goal in the 62nd minute was the first Colgate allowed this season.
SKILTON MAKES IMMEDIATE IMPACT
Freshman Stephanie Skilton, a starting forward, spearheaded Syracuse's victory against Colgate when she scored the only goal of the game during the second period. Earlier this year at the Penn State Invitational, Skilton also scored the game-winning goal against Hofstra in the 74th minute of the game. Skilton's tie-breaking goal against Hofstra gave the Orange its first win of the season. She is tied for first in the ACC in game-winning goals.
