SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Two college basketball powerhouses collide Saturday, Jan. 11 when No. 2/2 Syracuse hosts rv/rv North Carolina in the Carrier Dome. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m. The game will feature two of the top five all-time winningest programs in Division I as well as two of the five active NCAA coaches in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Jim Boeheim and Roy Williams.

What to Watch For – Syracuse
1. Syracuse is one of five Division I teams that remain unbeaten this season. The other four are Arizona, Iowa State, Wichita State and Wisconsin. The Orange has started the season with 15 consecutive victories for the third time in the last four years. Syracuse is also going for its third straight ACC win.
2. Freshman Tyler Ennis has made an immediate impact in his rookie campaign. He ranks second in the nation in assist/turnover ratio, ninth in total steals and 10th in steals per game in the latest NCAA statistics. In addition, Ennis' 5.60 assists per game rank second in the ACC. He is averaging 11.7 points per game.
3. Head coach Jim Boeheim will go against fellow Naismith Hall of Fame member Roy Williams. Boeheim is the second winningest coach in Division I history with 935 victories. His 35 20-win seasons are the most in Division I history. Boeheim was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005. Williams ranks fourth in victories among active Division I coaches with 710. He is a 2007 Naismith Hall of Fame inductee.
What to Watch For – North Carolina
1. North Carolina enters Saturday's game with a 10-5 overall record. The Tar Heels are looking for their first ACC win of the season after losses in their last two contests against Wake Forest and Miami.
2. Syracuse's defense will face a very balanced North Carolina offense. Marcus Paige leads the way, averaging 17.0 points per game. He is one five Tar Heels that average double figures in scoring. The group includes James McAdoo (14.4 ppg.), Brice Johnson (11.2 ppg.), Leslie McDonald (11.0 ppg.) and J.P. Tokoto (10.1 ppg.). North Carolina averages 77.7 points per game, which rank third in the ACC.
3. The Tar Heels have played in the Carrier Dome nine times, but only once against the Orange. UNC is 8-1 in those contests. North Carolina defeated SU, 87-64, in 1983 in a contest that featured freshman point guards Dwayne "Pearl" Washington for Syracuse and Kenny Smith for the Tar Heels. Michael Jordan scored 19 points to lead UNC's offense. North Carolina has played in the Dome in NCAA Tournament play four times, including the 2005 East Regional where the Tar Heels defeated Wisconsin to advance to the Final Four where they claimed the NCAA Championship. Legendary head coach Dean Smith recorded his final victory in the 1997 East Regional final in the Dome, a 97-74 win against Louisville.
THE SERIES
North Carolina leads the all-time series against Syracuse, 4-3. The Orange won the most recent meeting, 88-72, in Madison Square Garden.
