Syracuse (16-0, 3-0 ACC), just one of four unbeaten teams left in Division I, remains the second-ranked team in the country in both the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches polls for the fifth consecutive week.
Following a perfect 2-0 week which saw a 72-52 road win at Virginia Tech and a 57-45 victory against North Carolina, the Orange continues to gain ground on the No. 1 Arizona. Syracuse, which received four first-place votes in the AP poll, picked up 10 more points for a total of 1,560 and trails the Wildcats (1,621) by 61. It is the closest margin to the top spot for SU this season. Rounding out the top-five are Wisconsin, Michigan State and Wichita State.
Syracuse also has a steady grasp on the number two spot over in the Coaches poll. The Orange still has one first-place vote but added an additional five points (766), which ranks behind Arizona (798) and its 30 first-place nods. The top-five is the same as the AP, except Michigan State also grabbed a first-place vote.
SU is back in action on Monday, Jan. 13 at Boston College at 9 p.m. then returns home for a top-25 matchup with No. 22/21 Pittsburgh on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. Tickets are available online, in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B), or by calling 1-888-DOMETIX.
