Men’s Hoops At No. 2 In Latest Polls

For the eighth straight week, the Syracuse men's basketball team ranked second to No. 1 Arizona in both the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll, which were released on Monday, Jan. 27.
In its only contest of the week, the Orange held off Miami down the stretch for a 64-52 victory on the road. The win moved SU to 19-0 on the season, including 6-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The 19 wins to begin the season is tied for the second-best start in program history.
Syracuse nabbed a pair of first-place votes in the AP Top 25 while the Wildcats had the remaining 63. Florida, Wichita State and San Diego State all slid up in the poll to third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Arizona had 31-of-32 first place nods in the Coaches Poll and SU grabbed the other. Wichita State and Florida were flipped in the rankings with the Shockers climbing up to third and the Gators at fourth. San Diego State rounded out the top-five as well.
The Orange will look to match its best-start in program history at Wake Forest on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 9 p.m.
