Orange Women Selected to Finish Sixth in ACC - Syracuse University Athletics

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Syracuse University women's basketball team was selected to finish in sixth place in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) for the 2014-15 season, as announced by the conference on ACC Media Day on Wednesday. The Orange was selected to finish in sixth place in both the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches' polls.

2014 national runner-up Notre Dame was the preseason favorite in both preseason polls. Preseason ACC Player of the Year, by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches, junior guard Jewell Loyd will pace the Fighting Irish in 2014-15.

In both the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches' polls, the same top eight teams were selected. Duke was picked to finish as runner-up in the 15-team conference. Louisville, North Carolina, and Florida State rounded out the top five. Syracuse was selected to finish in sixth, while Georgia Tech and Miami were picked to finish in seventh and eighth, respectively.

Junior guard Brittney Sykes was selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team by the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches. The Newark, N.J. native led the team in scoring last season en route to All-ACC Second Team honors. Sykes was one of five student-athletes to earn All-ACC honors in 2013-14 and be named to the 2014-15 Preseason All-ACC Team by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches.

The Syracuse women's basketball team will participate in ACC Media Day in Greensboro, N.C. on Wednesday morning. Head coach Quentin Hillsman and junior guards Brianna Butler and Sykes will represent the Orange in North Carolina.
