
Orange Compete in Last Tune-Up before ACCs

Cuse runs at John Reif Memorial
The Syracuse cross country teams competed in its final event before the ACC Championships on Friday at the John Reif Memorial in Ithaca, N.Y.
While the event was only scored individually and not as teams, the Orange still managed to turn in a strong showing.
In the women's 5k, SU took four of the top five places, led by junior Angelica Peck who finished second overall with a time of 15:52.50. She was followed closely by freshman Karina Ernst (17:58.60), freshman Molly Malone (18:03.60) and senior Mary Malone (18:03.90) who finished third through fifth respectively.
Freshman Stephanie Bitcon was the fifth member of the Orange to cross the line in ninth place overall. Emily Nist (11th), Chelsie Pennello (19th), Meredith Reiche (20th) rounded out the field.
Sophomore Kevyn Hoyos won the men's five mile with a new Moakley course record. The freshman completed the course in 24:48.50, eight seconds ahead of teammate Mickey Burke who finished second. Junior Andrew Bennison finished third (25:04.60), Philo Germano took fourth (25:08.60) and TJ Hornberger finished fifth with a time of 25:31.00 to round out a 'Cuse sweep of the top-five.
Nick Ryan (12th), Andrew Paladino (14th), Robert Hall (15th) and Paul Lovell (16th) rounded out the men's field.
The Orange will return to action next Friday in Charlottesville, Va. Looking to defend its ACC title.
