Chris Makowski and Serra Degnan are this week’s Scholar-Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – With the new week brings two new Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week. The honorees are Serra Degnan of field hockey and Chris Makowski of men's soccer. Both scholar-athletes will be competing this weekend in their respective NCAA Tournaments.
Degnan has started every game this season for the Orange and picked up an assist against Kent State back on September 2. The Biology major and the No. 4 Orange (17-5) will take on #1 North Carolina (19-3) on Friday, November 21 at 2:00 PM. The Tar Heels will have a little extra motivation this time around after the Orange upset UNC in the ACC Tournament with a 3-2 victory in overtime.
Makowski has played in five games for the Orange this season. This year's campaign has been a historic one as the team enters its third NCAA Tournament in program history with a 15-3-1 record and will take on either Hartwick or Penn State on Sunday, November 23 at 2:00 PM. Syracuse owns the No. 9 seed in the tournament. The second-round matchup will be held at the SU Soccer Stadium and admission is just $8 for adults and $5 for youth, seniors and students with a valid university ID.
