Shafer Hopes to Send the Seniors Out with a Win

Orange take on Boston College Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
The Orange will close its season on Saturday at Boston College and head coach Scott Shafer is hoping that the team can send the seniors off on a high note.
"I think the biggest thing we want to do is send them off in a positive way. We have a great group of kids who have done a great job on both sides of the fence – academically, in the community and on the football field. Especially this group, whether it's Cam Lynch or Dyshawn Davis, we've had so many kids who have done some great things on above and beyond the football side of things and above and beyond the academic side of things. So this group in particular is a group that I'm really going to miss. I said this earlier in the year, they are a very unselfish group of guys who think outside of themselves. That's just kind of their makeup and we're going to miss them."
Shafer thinks the key to toping the Eagles starts on the defensive side of the ball and keeping Boston College quarterback Tyler Murphy and his offense in check.
"They're a well-coached football team that's doing a good job this year," Shafer said. "We'll have our hands full in defending a very good player in Tyler Murphy. You don't see someone leading the team in rushing and passing very much in college football right now. He's a very good football player – an older kid who transferred in – so hopefully we can slow him down. Our kids have gone to work this week and are looking forward to the challenge."
