Megan Murphy and Libby Weber will sing at the Jan. 11 men's basketball game.
Congratulations Megan Murphy and Libby Weber, the winners of the "Oh Say Can You Sing" contest presented the Greater Syracuse Area Honda Dealers! The duet will sing the National Anthem at the Syracuse men's basketball game against Florida State on Jan. 11 at the Carrier Dome.
Â
Megan and Libby's audition video was selected the winner based on online fan voting at Cuse.com. They defeated 24 other contestants in close voting that saw widespread support for all the contestants across the board.
The duo are freshmen in the Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University and attended Jamesville-Dewitt High School, where they sang the Anthem at the school's awards night in the spring.
"I feel very honored to have the invitation to sing the national anthem for an SU home game in the Dome," Murphy said. "I have attended Dome games all of my life and still can't imagine singing before 30,000+ SU fans! It is a great tradition to begin the game with a tribute to our nation. It is especially important in these times, where there are many unsettling events in the news, to remember how fortunate we are to be Americans and to enjoy the freedoms and liberties that many people have fought to provide for us. I am proud to sing the National Anthem, and proud to sing for Syracuse University and the Orange!"
"Singing the National Anthem at a Syracuse game would be an absolutely amazing experience," Weber said. "I have been to many Dome events and I love the energy and the enthusiasm that these games spark in the crowd. I have been able to sing the National Anthem in the Dome with the Syracuse Children's Choir, but having the opportunity to sing it with my best friend will be a very enjoyable accomplishment."
Â
Megan and Libby will also receive an autographed basketball, four tickets to the game in the press box, and will be part of the Greater Syracuse Area Honda Dealers VIP Hospitality Party that night.
