Senior forward Rakeem Christmas tallied his third double-double of the season on Monday
Rakeem Christmas has transformed himself into Syracuse's top offensive option this season, leading the team in scoring through the first 11 games and the senior proved to be a tough matchup in the middle again on Monday.
Christmas scored 16 points and hauled in 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season while playing just 22 minutes in a 78-43 rout of local rival Colgate.
"It was very important after the loss to put it behind us and get ready for this game and that's what we did tonight," Christmas said.
The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native entered the season averaging 4.5 points per game in 111 career contests but has taken his game to another level this season, averaging 16.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
"I've just been going out there and trying to give it my all," Christmas said. "Coach has been giving me confidence to go out there and just make plays."
It was the fifth time Christmas has led or tied for the team lead in scoring through the first 11 games this season, including the second straight. He has scored in double figures in all but two of 'Cuse's contests.
Next up for Christmas and the Orange is a contest with Long Beach State at 2 p.m. on Sunday
